It all begins with inspiration.
Nadeshda Hernández is a licensed psychotherapist (Marriage and Family Therapist), subconscious reprogrammer (hypnotherapist, EFT tapping practitioner…), and creator of Love the Yoni. Her personal and professional journeys parallel that of Love the Yoni on various levels. She grew up playing board games and loved everything about that. For years, Nadeshda knew that she wanted to create a game. It finally happened in 2016, after being in car accident. She read 3 books that inspired Love the Yoni: Aphrodite's Daughters, The Will to Change, and The Vagina Monologues. Synchronicity and dancing with sexuality and spirituality inspired her to birth Love the Yoni in her old studio home. Nadeshda began drawing Yoni art on pieces of cardboard, one of which was half of a papaya, which would soon become the famous Yoni game board.
She started on the first hand-made prototype and then facilitated pilot games, based on which she evolved Love the Yoni into improved editions. The graphic design of the board and avatars were then made by Jade Calkins, who has also contributed planning events, photography, video interviews, and marketing for Love the Yoni. As Nadeshda collaborated with eager creatives, Amanda Rizo, gave Love the Yoni its final polish as she perfected the cards and other game elements for its manufacturing.
Love the Yoni is a sex-positive game that provides an environment of lighthearted flow and connection with yourself and others.
So what is this game? This is a group board game for singles or couples. There is a die; there are avatars and cards with prompts. You’ll get to compliment yourselves or others, decipher facts, share beliefs and/or experiences related to sexuality, do silly things for others to guess, or engage in physical interaction with fellow player(s) such as giving a 5-second head massage (all only with consent). The game's fun, educational, and connecting energy encourages clear expression of likes, dislikes, wants, boundaries, personal truths, and understandings.
